Director of Technology Update
In my first month at AngliSchools, the focus has been on gaining a solid understanding of AngliSchools and its needs. Key activities have included:
- Stakeholder Engagement
Meetings have been held with various stakeholders, including various AngliSchools staff, Principals, Business Managers, and IT Managers across schools.
These discussions provided valuable insights into the unique needs of each area, and how technology can better support our schools.
- Committee Involvement
My participation in the Risk and Compliance Committee has helped me to align technology strategies with organisational priorities and risk management efforts. Additionally, an IT Committee meeting was held with IT Managers from across AngliSchools, focusing on the strategic enhancement of the technology approach.
- Ongoing Projects
My current primary focus is the technology setup at 441 Murray St, the home of AngliSchools Head Office, St George’s Anglican Grammar School and AngliSchools International from mid this year. The recent update is that internet service provision is currently underway. Network and audio-visual hardware have been received, and configuration and installation will follow next.
- External Insights
- Cybersecurity: With the growing threat landscape, protecting sensitive data is a top priority. Continuous improvement of our security controls will remain a key focus, to stay ahead of evolving threats.
- Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI): AI continues to gain momentum in education, offering opportunities for personalised learning and administrative efficiencies. Exploration of AI tools will be undertaken to support task automation and adaptive learning.
Looking Ahead
My next priority is the development of a comprehensive technology strategy and roadmap, to support the growth and advancement of our schools. This roadmap will focus on strengthening digital infrastructure, addressing the unique needs of each school, and identifying innovative solutions to drive both operational and educational success.
Team and Organisational Culture
The team at AngliSchools have been incredibly welcoming and collaborative. The organisation’s values are clearly reflected in day-to-day operations, and it is evident that these values are carried strongly through all levels. The positive and supportive environment provides a great foundation for continuing to drive our technology initiatives forward.
