Students at Georgiana Molloy Anglican School have kicked off the 2026 school year with a strong show of community spirit, raising close to $1,000 for the Australian Red Cross during their first House Day of the year.

The event, known as Bunker Day, saw the school community awash in red as students came together to support the fundraiser through the sale of ice-creams and icy poles. Break times were a hive of activity, with long queues forming as students eagerly supported the cause.

The initiative reflects a broader shift introduced at the school last year, where a revamped House-based pastoral care system replaced traditional year group Home Rooms in the Secondary School. The vertically aligned structure is designed to strengthen relationships across year levels, inspire mentorship, and provide greater continuity of care for students throughout their Secondary journey.

Bunker Day highlighted the success of the new approach, with students taking an active role in organising and running the event under the guidance of their Head of House. Older students were seen leading by example, encouraging participation and helping to create a collaborative and inclusive atmosphere across the campus.

The strengthened House system at Georgiana Molloy has also expanded opportunities beyond sport, introducing more diverse competitions and leadership roles. Early signs suggest the model is already helping to build a stronger sense of belonging and House pride among students.

House Days are fast becoming a meaningful tradition at Georgiana Molloy, with each House supporting a charity aligned with its values. The initiative not only raises funds for important causes but also encourages students to engage with their community. Bunker Day was a wonderful start to 2026, and the School is looking ahead to a year of continued connection, leadership and impact through its House system.
