This year, AngliSchools has had the pleasure of welcoming Mr Alessandro Pittorino as Leader of Performing Arts at Head Office, in addition to his role at John Septimus Roe Anglican Community School.

Mr Pittorino is a distinguished Australian organist and music leader, internationally recognised for his commanding performances and innovative musical vision. A master’s graduate of the Juilliard School, he studied under the mentorship of Grammy Award-winning organist Paul Jacobs and has performed worldwide, championing the organ as a vibrant and contemporary concert instrument.

Reflecting on his appointment as Leader of Performing Arts at AngliSchools, Mr Pittorino said, ‘I am honoured to accept this position. I am grateful for the confidence placed in me and excited to contribute to a community that values creativity, collaboration and artistic excellence. I look forward to working alongside dedicated colleagues and inspiring students as we continue to develop and celebrate the performing arts across our schools.’

He will play a key role in the inaugural Choral Evensong, and noted, ‘It is a privilege to be directing the combined choirs of our schools for the upcoming Choral Evensong at St George’s Cathedral. This occasion is especially meaningful for me as it marks my first official event as Leader of Performing Arts at AngliSchools, and fittingly, it falls on the Feast of St Cecilia, the Patron Saint of Music.’

Mr Pittorino added, “Music and the performing arts hold a unique power to move and inspire us – they are truly a fair and glorious gift from God. During my time at AngliSchools, I hope to nurture not only a deep appreciation for the performing arts in their many forms, but also to rekindle a love for the sacred arts – for the beauty and transcendence that music brings to worship and liturgy”.

We are delighted to continue to see Mr Pittorino grow in this role and share his knowledge with students and staff alike!
