Peter Moyes Anglican Community School introduced a sixth House, Cowan, at the start of the 2026 school year.

The addition follows a whole-school selection process conducted in 2025, where students were presented with a shortlist of potential patrons and invited to vote. Edith Cowan was selected by a clear margin.

Edith Cowan was Australia’s first female parliamentarian, known for her advocacy for social justice, particularly in advancing the rights of women and children and improving access to education.

The new House sits alongside existing Houses named after prominent Australians, including Betty Cuthbert, Mary Durack, Howard Florey, Fred Hollows and Vincent Lingiari.

The introduction of Cowan House reflects attributes such as service, integrity and courage, while also contributing to a sense of belonging and community within the school.

Students have already embraced the new House, with a sea of purple uniforms becoming a visible addition across the campus.
