Following a significant year of construction and development, Cobram Anglican Grammar School (Cobram AGS) has continued to enhance its learning environments with further upgrades completed over the summer holidays.
A key focus of the latest works was the repurposing of the former Technology building, which has been transformed into a second science laboratory alongside a purpose-built music facility. The new music space includes a classroom, staff office and two sound-proofed music pods designed for private instrumental and vocal lessons. The new classroom was strategically positioned adjacent to the Performing Arts Centre, creating greater efficiency for its music students when performing at school events.

With participation in the school’s music program growing significantly across both Junior and Senior School in recent years, the new facility marks an important step forward. Until now, the program had operated from a small portable classroom which, while functional, was not purpose-built to support the expanding needs of music students.
Music teacher Mrs Trish Chmiel said ‘this new room is an absolute game-changer for our music students.’
‘Having a dedicated, well-designed space allows students to rehearse, learn and create in an environment that truly supports their musical growth. It also opens up exciting opportunities for ensemble work, private tuition and further development of the program.’
Science facilities were also addressed as part of the school’s upgrades, with growing enrolments and subject demand placing pressure on the existing laboratory timetable. The addition of a second science room will help ease congestion and provide much-needed flexibility. It will serve as a high-quality learning space suitable for most practical activities and academic instruction in the Senior School.
Together, these improvements reflect Cobram AGS’s ongoing commitment to investing in facilities that support both current student needs and future growth.
