Western Australian Universities’ Foundation Program
(WAUFP)

  • Prepares international students for university entry.
  • Includes sciences, mathematics, business, and psychology.
  • Requires ELACS and at least three subjects.

Course content

The Western Australian Universities’ Foundation Program (WAUFP) is a Year 12 academic program designed for international students who do not have a strong English language background.  Students can gain entry into one of the four Western Australian public universities upon the successful completion of the program and fulfilment of the university’s entry requirements. The WAUFP is facilitated by the Tertiary Institutions Service Centre (TISC).

Students must study at least 3 subjects as well as English Language and Australian Cultural Studies (ELACS). Subjects offered as part of the WAUFP include:

  • Accounting and Finance (ATAR)
  • Business Management and Enterprise (ATAR)
  • Chemistry (ATAR)
  • Computer Science (ATAR)
  • Earth and Environmental Science (ATAR)
  • Economics (ATAR)
  • English Language and Australian Cultural Studies (ELACS)
  • Human Biology (ATAR)
  • Mathematics Applications (ATAR)
  • Mathematics Methods (ATAR)
  • Mathematics Specialist (ATAR)
  • Physics (ATAR)
  • Psychology (ATAR)

Dates & duration

Two-semester course
over 9 months

The WAUFP commences in February and is offered as a two-semester course over 9 months. Final examinations are held in October and November.

Other information

Uniform

Each school has its own distinctive uniform. Schools typically require students to purchase summer uniform, winter uniform as well as uniform that can be worn during Physical Education lessons.

Textbooks

Schools provide parents with a booklist that sets out the textbooks that are required by students on commencement of their study. Booklist orders are typically filled by an educational supplier and can be delivered to a specified address.
