Peter Carnley Anglican Community School has introduced a new initiative to support students and families preparing for Senior School studies, hosting its inaugural Year 11 Subject Selection Expo for Year 10 families.
The event provided an engaging and informative opportunity for families to connect directly with teaching staff and discuss subject choices, pathway opportunities and future career aspirations. Conversations throughout the evening focused on course expectations, workload, tertiary prerequisites and the broad range of opportunities available as students prepare for the senior years of schooling.
The initiative reflects the School’s commitment to ensuring students and families are well informed and supported when making important decisions about future study and career directions. By bringing together staff, students and families in a collaborative setting, the Expo encouraged meaningful discussions and personalised guidance tailored to each student’s goals and interests.

A valuable feature of the evening was the involvement of Year 11 student volunteers, who shared first-hand experiences about the transition into Senior School. Families heard directly from current students about managing workload expectations, balancing commitments and navigating the challenges often associated with the move from Year 10 to Year 11. Their insights provided reassurance and practical advice while also highlighting the significant personal and academic growth that occurs during the senior years.
The introduction of the Subject Selection Expo demonstrates the School’s proactive approach to supporting informed subject choices and career planning. The initiative encourages students to consider future possibilities and approach their Senior School studies with confidence and clarity.

Feedback from families and staff highlighted the value of open conversations, accessible guidance and the opportunity to explore study options in a supportive environment ahead of final subject selections.
Peter Carnley Anglican Community School looks forward to continuing the initiative in future years and establishing the Subject Selection Expo as an important annual event within the Senior School calendar.
