Cathedral College Wangaratta has welcomed an additional Year 7 class in 2026, reflecting continued growth in enrolments and the College’s commitment to supporting students as they begin their secondary education.
The new class, known as ‘Seven King’, forms part of the College’s expanding Middle School cohort and has added further energy to the start of the school year.
Classroom teacher Mrs Newton said the beginning of the year had been a valuable opportunity to welcome new students while reconnecting with returning students after the summer holidays.
‘We are excited to welcome our new students into the classroom this year,’ Mrs Newton said. ‘It has been fantastic to see students settling in so quickly, engaging in thoughtful discussions and building positive connections from the very first days.’
She also noted the leadership shown by existing students, who have embraced the opportunity to welcome new classmates, show them around the College and help them feel at home within the school community.
In 2026, Cathedral College Wangaratta has a total enrolment of 150 Year 7 students, including 89 new students joining the College this year.
Acting Head of Middle School Mrs Woods said the strong intake reflected careful planning as the College continues to grow.
‘Our new students have made a confident and positive start to the school year, settling seamlessly into the established routines of the Middle School. The addition of Seven King has brought energy and vibrancy to the year level, creating further opportunities for connection across the Middle School community. This has strengthened our culture of belonging, collaboration and positive relationships, setting a strong foundation for the year ahead.’
The introduction of Seven King marks an important step in supporting the College’s expanding Year 7 cohort and strengthening the Middle School community.
