Peace on earth and goodwill to all people. How desirable this is in the world, our community, and our context. Despite this desire for peace, we still hear of situations of turmoil all around us, locally and across the world, making the quest for peace difficult. There is an ever-growing sense of hostility and resistance to situations, people and institutions. Organisational challenges, even from within their own structures, bring about fear and doubt about the future, and operational plans and intentions are often misconstrued.

It is within this confusion and with this backdrop that we are looking forward to Christmas and the New Year. Christmas is about Jesus, the Prince of Peace, who desires goodwill for all people. It is about hope for the best, hope for peace, and a time to be able to put other issues aside so we can celebrate this event that announces the peace of Christ which surpasses all understanding.

I pray that the Peace of Christ will be embedded in all that we do over the next few weeks and that this peace will be a lasting peace as we look to Jesus, the Prince of Peace.

Holy and Blessed Christmas to you all.
