A NEW ANGLICAN SCHOOL FOR BALLARAT
Ascension Anglican School is a new co-educational school planned for Cardigan in Ballarat’s growing west.
The School is scheduled to open in Term 1, 2029 for students from Prep to Year 6. It will add one year level each year, offering Prep to Year 12 by 2035.
Ascension will provide high-quality, inclusive and fee-accessible Anglican education in a welcoming school community where every student is known, supported and encouraged to achieve their best.
ABOUT
Ascension Anglican School will become part of AngliSchools, a group of Anglican schools educating approximately 19,000 students across Victoria, New South Wales and Western Australia.
For more than 40 years, AngliSchools has provided high-quality Anglican education that is inclusive and accessible to families.
While every AngliSchool has its own character and strengths, each shares the FIRE values of Faith, Inclusion, Respect and Excellence.
THE NAME
The name Ascension comes from the Christian Feast of the Ascension and speaks to hope, purpose and growth.
It reflects our vision for a school that broadens horizons, encourages excellence and prepares students to lead lives of meaning and purpose.
OPENING AND FUTURE YEAR LEVELS
Ascension Anglican School will grow progressively:
- 2029: Prep to Year 6
- 2030: Prep to Year 7
- 2031: Prep to Year 8
- 2032: Prep to Year 9
- 2033: Prep to Year 10
- 2034: Prep to Year 11
- 2035: Prep to Year 12
Expressions of interest for enrolment are planned to open in October 2026.
LEARNING
Ascension will provide a broad and engaging education that supports students throughout each stage of their learning.
Our teachers will take the time to understand each student’s interests, strengths and individual learning needs. Strong relationships between students, families and staff will help children feel safe, supported and ready to achieve their personal best.
As students progress through the School, they will move from structured, teacher-directed learning towards greater independence and responsibility.
Secondary students will have access to academic, vocational and combined pathways leading to the successful completion of the Victorian Certificate of Education.
BEYOND THE CLASSROOM
Learning at Ascension will extend well beyond the classroom through a broad co-curricular program.
Students will have opportunities to take part in sport, performing arts, academic competitions, debating, clubs, service activities and other programs that help them discover new interests and develop their talents.
ANGLICAN IDENTITY
Our Anglican faith will be at the heart of school life.
Students will experience Christian values through chapel, pastoral care, service and open discussion. Ascension will welcome families from all faiths and none. It will nurture a community shaped by compassion, purpose and respect for others.
STUDENT WELLBEING
Pastoral care and student wellbeing will be central to the Ascension experience.
We want every child to feel a strong sense of belonging and to know that there are people at School who understand them and care about their progress.
Students will receive academic, social and emotional support as they grow and move through each stage of their education.
INDICATIVE FEES
The indicative annual tuition fee ranges are:
- Prep to Year 6: $4,500 to $5,500
- Years 7 to 12: $6,500 to $7,500
These figures are indicative only and will be confirmed closer to the School’s opening.
PLANNING AND CONSTRUCTION
Planning and approval processes are expected to commence in 2027, with site preparation and Stage 1 construction planned for 2028.
The Stage 1 build of Ascension is expected to represent an approximately $40 million investment in Ballarat and employ around 150 people when fully enrolled.
All timelines remain subject to the necessary planning and regulatory approvals.
