St Mark’s Anglican Community School marked its 40th anniversary at its first whole-school assembly of the year, celebrating the milestone alongside a remarkable 40 years of service from one of its foundation staff members.
Held on 4 February, the assembly brought students, staff and guests together to reflect on four decades of the School’s history and community. Students and staff sang Happy Birthday, shared cake and marked the occasion with commemorative 40th anniversary pins presented to students, staff and invited guests.
The School welcomed several guests to the celebration, including AngliSchools CEO The Reverend Peter Laurence OAM and AngliSchools Board Chair Mrs Lynne Thomson, along with members of the School Council.
During the assembly, Peter Laurence presented the School with a Banksia tree, symbolising resilience, growth and deep community roots. The tree will stand as a reminder of the anniversary year and the generations of students who have grown and learned at St Mark’s.

The assembly also recognised Mrs McKibbin, Head of Library, for 40 years of service to the School. A foundation staff member, she has supported students across both the Primary and Secondary Schools since St Mark’s earliest days. In recognition of her contribution, Mrs Thomson presented Mrs McKibbin with a 40 Years of Service Award.
Over four decades, Mrs McKibbin has made invaluable contributions across both the Primary and Secondary Schools, guiding students throughout their educational journey. In every role, she has demonstrated unwavering care, wisdom, and generosity of spirit.

The morning concluded with a ceremonial cake cutting involving students, staff and guests, marking the beginning of the School’s anniversary year.
